JSI Tip 4738. How do I make a local printer available in a Remote Desktop session?

To make a local printer available in a Remote Desktop session:

1. Start / All Programs / Accessories / Communications / Remote Desktop Connection.

2. In the Remote Desktop Connection dialog, press Options.

3. Select the Local Resources tab.

4. Press Printers in the Local Devices area.

5. Press Connect.

When you log on to the remote computer, the clients local printer will become the default printer for any programs running on the remote desktop. If there is more than one local printer, all will be available, but the local printer that is the default printer for the remote computer will become the remote desktop default.

NOTE: When you press Connect in step 5, you have established default settings for all new connects. If you use the General tab in the Remote Desktop Connection dialog, you can save groups of settings for connecting to different remote desktops.
