When you install IIS on Windows 2000 Professional (IIS 5.0) or Windows XP Professional (IIS 5.1), HTTP Compression is NOT available. Configuration of HTTP Compression is disabled in the Internet Service Manager (ISM).
The Professional versions of the Windows operating system are intended to be used as a development platform. Certain features of IIS installed on these platforms are limited or disabled.
