JSI Tip 4236. You can't access shares on a Windows 2000 Professional domain member from other computers on the network?

When you try to access a share on a Windows 2000 Professional domain member, you receive either of the following:

From Windows 9x

Error 2215: <ComputerName> is not accessible. The logon server cannot be found.

From Windows NT 4.0

There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request.

The Windows 2000 Professional has no problems in accessing network resources.

Check the event viewer on the Windows 2000 Professional to see if it is logged on with cached credentials.

NOTE: NetDiag can report if the Windows 2000 Professional is logged on with cached credentials.

If the Windows 2000 Professional is not properly contacting a domain controller, pass through authentication fails.

To resolve the problem, have the Windows 2000 Professional join a workgroup named WORKGROUP. After the restart, have it join the domain. After the restart, pass through authentication should function.
