JSI Tip 4211. 'net time /setsntp' issues 'Could not locate a time-server'?

If you use the net time /setsntp command in Windows 2000 and have connectivity to the external time server, you may receive:

Could not locate a time-server.
More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 3912.

Windows 2000 non-domain controllers and windows based computers attempt to contact the Windows 2000 domain controller that holds the PDC emulator FSMO role to set time.

Only the Windows 2000 PDC emulator FSMO role holder can set time from an external time source.

See tip 2669 » How do I configure an authoritative time server in Windows 2000?
