In tip 2865 » How do I find what FSMO roles a server owns, we used the
ntdsutil.exe tool to identify the FSMO roles that a server owns.
Using the netdom.exe utility, from the Support Tools on the Windows 2000 CD-ROM, you can type:
netdom query fsmo
and receive a display similar to:
Schema owner JSI001.JSIINC.COM Domain role owner JSI001.JSIINC.COM PDC role JSI001.JSIINC.COM RID pool manager JSI001.JSIINC.COM Infrastructure owner JSI001.JSIINC.COM The command completed successfully. You can also start the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in and right-click the domain. Pressing Operations Masters allows to you to view (and transfer) the RID, PDC, and Infrastructure role holders.
NOTE: See tip 2728 » Using Ntdsutil.exe to seize or transfer FSMO roles to a domain controller.
