JSI Tip 3508. Windows 2000 reserves IRQ-6 even if the floppy disk controller(s) are removed?

IRQ-6 is usually reserved for floppy disk controllers. If you disable or remove the floppy, IRQ-6 is still claimed?

If you have a non-ACPI system that uses a Plug and Play BIOS, Ntdetect.com always reports a floppy controller on an x86 system, unless your BIOS is legacy-free.

To resolve the issue, update your BIOS to ACPI.
