Windows 2000 Backup can be modified to backup files inuse:
1. Logon as the account that runs NTBackup.exe.
2. Use Regedt32 to navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Ntbackup\Backup Engine
3. Double-click the Backup files inuse Value Name to open the String Editor and set the data value to 1.
4. Log off.
NOTE: NTBackup will temporarily lock a file while backing it up or restoring it. A lock on an open file can interfere with the operation of an application or services, such as WINS and DHCP.
