JSI Tip 3395. When you try to connect to a Windows 2000 Terminal Services computer, you receive 'The System Cannot Log You On (573)'?</H3>

When you try to connect to a Windows 2000 Terminal Services computer, in either a Windows NT 4.0 domain or a Windows 2000, domain, you receive:

The system cannot log you on (573). Please try again or consult your system administrator.

If Terminal Services is installed on a computer that is running a NFR (Not For Resale) version of Windows 2000, it is limited to 10 simultaneous connections.

NOTE: The same problem will happen if you used a NFR created boot disk.

The only solution is to perform and Upgrade install of Windows 2000 from a Full Retail media.

To see if an NFR copy of Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2000 Advanced Server is installed:

1. Right-click My Computer and press Properties.

2. If the first 5 digits of the Product ID are:

51883 - you have an NFR version of Windows 2000 Server.

51882 - you have an NFR version of Windows 2000 Advanced Server.

NOTE: If you have improperly configured your licenses in License Manager, you could also experience this problem.
