If you boot your computer from the Windows 2000 CD-ROM, or the Windows 2000 setup diskettes, and start the Recovery Console, you are NOT prompted for the Administrator password?
This behavior is the result of setup being unable to locate a valid Windows 2000 installation on your hard disks.
In this mode, you can perform a repair operation, such as Fixmbr or Fixboot. You can also partition or format your drives. You can access the the root folders of your hard disk, but you can NOT access any subfolders.
