When you try to use the Add Printer Wizard to Add Printer, Explorer.exe
causes an access violation?
One possible cause is that the Installation Sources value name at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup
is set to a REG_SZ data type.
The proper data type for Installation Sources is REG_MULTI_SZ.
Delete the Installation Sources value name and use Regedt32 to Add Value using a REG_MULTI_SZ data type. Enter the paths, one per line.
Here are the entries for my customized Installation Sources:
D:\W2KPRO C:\WINNT\APPPATCH\SOURCES C:\DELL\DRIVERS\W2KAUDIO C:\DELL\DRIVERS\W2KVIDEO C:\DELL\DRIVERS\TPA01 E:A:\NOTE: You may also want to see tip 3187 » Windows 2000 Service Pack does NOT update the registry install path?
