JSI Tip 3138. W32time continues to monitor secondary client broadcasts?

If you upgerade from Windows NT 4.0 and configure W32time to ignore secondary client broadcasts, Windows 2000 continues to monitor secondary client broadcasts?

To resolve the problem:

1. Locate the W32time.ini file and make sure it contain a TIMESOURCE=NO entry.

2. Use Regedt32 to navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters

3. Delete the timesource value name.

4. Stop and Start the Windows Time service.

NOTE: While W32time.exe may work on Windows 2000, it is NOT supported.

NOTE: The timesource value name is NOT used to configure the Windows Time service, but its' presence (at least a data value of 1) causes the Windows Time service to monitor secondary client broadcasts.
