JSI Tip 2779. Why can't I have a space in my Windows 2000 NetBIOS computer name?

In Windows NT 4.0, spaces are allowed in the NetBIOS computer name.

Windows 2000 does NOT allow a space in the NetBIOS computer name.

This change was made to prevent you from choosing a name that is NOT a valid DNS name.
