JSI Tip 2693. How do I rename the Recycle Bin on my Windows 2000 desktop?

When you right-click on the Recycle Bin, the context menu does not contain a Rename.

To add the Rename to the context menu, use Regedt32 to navigate to:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\\{645FF040-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E\}\ShellFolder

Double-click the Attributes value name in the right hand pane and use the Binary Editor to change the first character of the data from 40010020 to 50010020.

When you right click the Recycle Bin, a Rename option is added to the context menu.

If you rename your Recycle Bin, the results are stored at:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CLSID\\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E\}
