JSI Tip 2613. 3rd party monolithic drivers may disable Windows 2000 class drivers.

A monolithic driver is one that bypasses the Windows 2000 miniport driver subsystem and attemps to handle all the device interaction itself. Even if the 3rd party monolithic driver is successful, it deprives Windows 2000 of required status information, resulting in the inability of Windows 2000 to detect or interact with the device, and generally resulting in numerous error messages.

You must obtain an updated driver for Windows 2000 to handle the device properly. If the device in on the HCL, an updated driver will be available.
