JSI Tip 2515. You experience up to a 30 second delay when viewing a \\ComputerName on W98 from Windows 2000?

When you type \\ComputerName into the Run box on Windows 2000, you experience up to a 30 second delay if ComputerName is running W98?

If you right-click on My Network Places and search for Computers, you experience the same delay when the computer name is running W98?

This is caused by Windows 2000 trying to determine if Scheduled Tasks are enabled on the W98 computer.

To work around the problem, search for \\ComputerName\ShareName.
