If you ever installed an evaluation edition of Windows 2000, you know that the Edition and build displayed as 2 small text lines, at the botton right hand corner of your desktop.
Regardless of the edition, you can control this display.
Use Regedt32 to navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERS\Control Panel\Desktop
Edit or Add Value name PaintDesktopVersion, as a type REG_DWORD. A data value of 0 disables the display and a data value of 1 enables it.
Logoff/Logon to activate the change.
