JSI Tip 2123. The Windows 2000 'Log on to' box is inactive?

When you try to logon to a Windows 2000 domain computer, you notice that the 'Log on to' box is set to the local computer and is inactive?

This will happen if the last user to logon used a FQDN, [email protected], in the User name box.

You should use friendly user names when logging on. The only exception, though NOT recommended, is when the user name contains an @. In this case, if the user name was jerry@jsi, you would enter jerry@[email protected].

NOTE: To fix this problem, simply enter a friendly user name in the User name box.

See tip 2124 for how to hide the last logged on user name in Windows 2000.
