JSI Tip 1564. How can I get Exchange 5.5 to support new time zones?

You can cause Exchange 5.5 to support time zone declarations not defined in RFC 822.

To configure the Internet Mail Service (IMS), use Regedt32 to navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\ParametersSystem\InternetContent
On the Edit menu, Add Value name NewTimeZones as a type REG_MULTI_SZ entry. You may add multiple time zones, one per line, using the <New Time Zone;Time Offset> format, where:

New Time Zone is any 3 character string.

Time Offset is +/-XX:XX; expressed in hours (0-12) and minutes (0-59), from GMT.

Example: LCL;-5:00

Stop and restart the information store and the IMS.

NOTE: You will have to manually adjust for Daylight Savings Time.
