When you open the Power Options applet in the Windows XP Control Panel, the power scheme options on the Power Schemes tab are not available.
This behavior will occur if the registry entries for the power scheme options have been deleted.
To resolve this issue, perform an in-place upgrade of Windows XP or use the Windows XP SP2 Powercfg.exe utility to export power schemes from another Windows XP computer (or a parallel install) and import them:
Export
1. Open a CMD.EXE window on the exporting instance of Windows XP..2. Type powercfg /export <Scheme> /file <FileName> and press Enter, where <Scheme> is the power scheme you want to export and <FileName> is a file that can be accessed by the importing install.
Import
1. Open a CMD.EXE window on the importing instance of Windows XP.2.Type Type powercfg /import <Scheme> /file <FileName> and press Enter.
NOTE: You may repeat the export and import for additional power schemes.
