JSI Tip 10071. A remote session does not end immediately on a computer that is running Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1?

When you attempt to quit a published application soon after it is started on a remote Windows Server 2003 SP1 computer, the Remote Desktop Connection window may stay open for a minute or more.

This behavior results because Windows Server 2003 SP1 moved the user and computer certificate autoenrollment into the Userinit process, which The certificate autoenrollment can take 70 seconds to finish.

To workaround this behavior:

1. Start / Run / Gpedit.msc / OK.

2. Navigate through User Configuration / Windows Settings / Security Settings / Public Key Policies

3. Double-click Autoenrollment Settings.

4. Select Do not enroll certificates automatically.

5. Press Apply and OK.
