JSI Tip 10070. You cannot access a CD or a DVD after you insert the disc into the optical drive on Windows XP?

When you attempt to access or eject a CD or DVD from an optical drive in Windows XP, the hour glass appears for more than 10 seconds and you receiver an error similar to:

Cannot Access the Drive

Eventually, you can access the drive.

This behavior will occur if after inserting the CD or DVD, you don't allow the optical drive enough time to spin up and detect the media.

The workaround is to be more patient. Learn how long it takes for the drive to spin up and detect the media.
