JSI Tip 0878. Network functionality of RAS clients.

When a RAS client is connected, Windows NT can direct NET SEND and Printer Notifications to the RAS client. Other network fiunctionality, such as performing an NET USE does not work.

To enable the same functionality that an LAN user has, edit the registry on the RAS Server at:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RemoteAccess\Parameters\NetBIOSGateway

Edit or Add Value name RemoteListen, a type REG_DWORD, and set the data value to 2.

Note: This can be a significant drain on server resources.

The default for RemoteListen is a data value of 1. To disable the default NET SEND and Printer Notification, set the data value to 0. You will need to restart the RAS Server.
