I am really struggling to make a good decision on the direction for my career. How can I make the best decision?

A. Don't make big decisions about your career in a vacuum. Get feedback from your spouse, friends, and peers. It's especially valuable to have a mentor help you through these times by being a sounding board for your thoughts. Contact others with a similar position and find out the real nature of the work. Determine whether you'll need to travel in the new job. The job that might be perfect for a young single person might be less than ideal for a mature, married professional. Dollars should not be your only guide. A mentor can come in handy when you're making career decisions. Nothing is as valuable as a good sanity check before you make a serious career step.
