How do I use the Windows XP Remote Desktop Connection application?

A. XP has a built-in Terminal Services client (mstsc.exe) that you can use to connect to XP Remote Desktop sessions and regular Terminal Services servers. To use the Remote Desktop Connection, perform the following steps:

  1. Start the Remote Desktop Connection application (Start, Programs, Accessories, Communications, Remote Desktop Connection).
  2. By default, the system displays a cut-down version that requires only a computer name.

  3. Click here to view image

  4. Click Connect to start a session in full-screen mode. Or click Options to first configure screen resolution, sound and keyboard configuration, local devices, bitmap caching, and compression.
