How do I switch between single- and double-click?

A. When you are in Explorer or on your desktop, the traditional way to launch a program is to double-click it. Enhancements in Internet Explorer (IE) allow a Web-like hyperlink approach that lets you move the mouse pointer over an object to select it and click the object once to execute it.

To switch between the traditional double-click model and the single-click Web model, perform the following steps:

  1. Start Explorer (Start, Run, explorer.exe--or press the Win key + E).
  2. From the Tools menu, select Folder Options.
  3. Select the General tab.
  4. In the "Click items as follows" section, select one of the following:
    - Single-click to open an item (point to select)
    - Double-click to open an item (single-click to select)
  5. If you choose the single-click option, you can also choose when the system will underline titles of objects.
  6. Click OK.
