How do I enable the Windows Vista Parental Controls feature on a domain-joined machine?

A. By default, the Parental Controls feature of Vista is disabled on domain-joined machines, but you can enable it by performing these steps:

  1. Run Group Policy Editor (GPE--Start, All Programs, Accessories, Run, gpedit.msc).
  2. Expand Local Computer Policy, Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Parental Controls.
  3. Double-click "Make Parental Controls control panel visible on a Domain" and set it to Enabled, as the figure shows.
  4. Click OK, and exit GPE.
  5. Log out and log back in for the change to take effect. Parental Controls are available for only the Vista Home and Ultimate editions, not the Business editions.
