A. To redirect Exchange 2000 email to an external address, perform the following steps:
- Start the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in (go to Start, Programs, Administrative Tools, and click "Active Directory Users and Computers").
- Right-click inside the Users folder (or the Domain Controllers folder, if you use organizational units--OUs) and select New, Contact.
- Provide a name for the contact and click Next. (For this name, I prefer to use the external email address to which I plan to forward mail so that I can distinguish it from other contact names, and I copy this name to the Display Name box.)
- From the next window, click Modify, choose SMTP Address, enter the external email address, and click OK.
- Click Next to proceed to the review window, then click Finish.
- Locate and double-click the user account from which you want to forward mail.
- Select the Exchange General tab and click the Delivery Options button.
- In the Forwarding address section, select the "Forward to" radio button and click Modify.
- Locate the contact that you just created and click OK.
- Select the "Deliver message to both forwarding address and mailbox" check box if you want to maintain a copy of each email message on the server.
- Click OK twice to exit all configuration screens.
