Halo: Spartan Assault to Launch on Xbox Consoles Next Month

A smaller Halo is a better Halo

Microsoft announced today that its popular Halo title for Windows Phones and tablets, Halo: Spartan Assault, will be released for Xbox 360 and Xbox One in December. As you might expect of such a title, it will ship as a digital download and not a retail boxed game.

There's not much to say here beyond the fact that the Windows 8.x/RT and Windows Phone version of the game is excellent, as noted in my post Halo: Spartan Assault for Windows 8, Windows RT and Windows Phone 8. Be sure to check out A Few More Thoughts About Halo: Spartan Assault and Halo: Spartan Assault Improves with 5 New Levels, Free Demo Version for more info as well.

I do expect the transition to an Xbox controller to be seamless. You can actually play that way on a Windows 8.x/RT device now, but the game is really optimized for multi-touch (and works better that way). I'm also curious about the price: the Windows version and Windows Phone version both currently cost $6.99. I suspect the Xbox versions will be similar.

While we wait, here's a nice video to get you primed.
