The format painter

The Format Painter is a tool that copies formatting from one selection to another.

To use the Format Painter:

1. Select text that includes the formatting you wish to copy.

   If you want to include paragraph formats, such as list style, indentation, spacing, etc., be sure to include the paragraph mark in your selection.

2. Click the Format Painter.

   Double-click the Format Painter if you want to apply the formatting to multiple selections.

3. Select text to which you wish to apply the formatting.
4. If you double-clicked the Format Painter, press Esc or click the Format Painter again to turn it off.
