You might not remember, but in October last year I put a few of the Microsoft Band 2 screen protectors through their paces. This included ease of application, durability, protection level, etc. I was recently asked how happy I am with my final choice, the ArmorSuit MilitaryShield, and I think it’s worth a follow-up, considering there are now new Band 2 owners.
A lot of folks at the time the Microsoft Band 2 released suggested that Microsoft Band 2 wouldn’t need a screen protector with the upgraded Gorilla Glass. But after seeing first-hand a couple cases where the glass already had spider-vein scratches from normal use, I didn’t want to take the chance. I’m glad I didn’t wait. And, I’ve heard from others who wished they had taken heed and snagged a screen protector right away.
Microsoft’s “official” screen protector is the one from ZAGG. For some of the first adopters of the Microsoft Band 2 – those that have been owners since it released in October 2015 – the ZAGG has been a bit nightmarish. They have found that it peels off on its too easily and too often.
The ArmorSuit MilitaryShield that I chose comes in a 2-pack with the promise of lifetime replacements. However, the one I applied in October when my Band 2 arrived is still installed without any sign of wear or curl. That’s actually pretty amazing considering I wear the Band constantly – only taking it off to charge it. And, I record multiple fitness activities every day.
Now, I will warn you up front, it does take some effort to get the ArmorSuit MilitaryShield installed correctly. But, if you take the time and get it right the first time you should have the same experience I have had. And once applied, the screen protector is virtually invisible.
The ArmorSuit MilitaryShield as an excellent choice. You can get the same 2-pack from Amazon right now for only $7.95.
