Don't confuse folder redirection with Windows 2000's offline folders feature. Folder redirection uses a pointer to move the specified folders off the local machine and onto a server. The process is transparent to users. Folder redirection doesn't work for mobile users: When they're offline, these users won't have access to their files. Offline folders are copies of local folders. Files within the folders exist on both the local computer and the server, and users synchronize the folders' contents. The offline folders feature is perfect for mobile users.
