Create a style with the Styles and Formatting pane

  1. Select a paragraph that contains the formatting you wish to save as a style.
    Double-click in the selection bar (left margin) next to a paragraph to select a paragraph efficiently.
  2. In the Styles and Formatting task pane, in the Formatting of selected text section, click the New Style button.
  3. In the New Style box, give the style a name.
  4. Configure or modify properties of the style using shortcuts in the New Style box, or by clicking the Format button and selecting format commands.
  5. Select the Add to Template checkbox to save the style in the template that was used as the source for this document.
  6. Click OK.
