Choose colors for placeholders

Format placeholders with valid color scheme colors.  If you don't see the color you want on the "first row" of a color palette, then modify the color scheme.

  • The Text placeholder should be formatted with the Font Color labeled Automatic or Follow Text and Lines Scheme Color.
  • Use colors from the color scheme as the color for bullets. Many professionally-created schemes use the Fills color and the Accent and Followed Hyperlink color as bullet colors.
  • The Title Text placeholder should be formatted with the Font Color labeled Follow Title Text Scheme Color. Note that the color labeled Automatic may actually result in the Text and Lines Scheme Color, and that is also a valid alternative.
  • Other text placeholders should be formatted with the Font Colors labeled Automatic, Follow Text and Lines Scheme Color, Follow Title Text Scheme Color, or the shadow color scheme color (which is often good for footers so that the footer information is more "dim" than the main slide text). If you are not actually using hyperlinks, you can format text placeholders with the color scheme colors for accent & hyperlink or accent & followed hyperlink
