Can I make the Shutdown Event Tracker display only my options?

A. If you have at least one working user-defined reason, you can prevent the system from displaying the default ones by performing the following steps:

  1. Start regedit.exe.
  2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Reliability.
  3. From the Edit menu, select New, DWORD value.
  4. Enter a name of ShutdownIgnorePredefinedReasons, and press Enter.
  5. Double-click the new value, and set it to 1.
  6. Click OK.

The system will no longer display the default reasons. To get the default reasons back, either set ShutdownIgnorePredefinedReasons to 0 or delete this value.
