Can I customize OWA?

A. Yes. The files in exchsrvr\webdata contain the HTML and Active Server Pages (ASP) code that make Microsoft Exchange Server Outlook Web Access (OWA) pages work. If you know how to edit HTML, you can easily make some simple customizations like changing the logon screen's appearance. Keep the following two rules in mind:

  • If you don't know what an ASP code does, don't change it. That code acts as the interface between Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) and OWA.
  • Keep a backup copy of your changes somewhere besides the webdata directory. Service packs and upgrade installs will wipe your changes out.
