Again, Firefox Gains on IE

After a few months of stagnant or even declining market share, the Mozilla Foundation has some celebrating to do again. This week, OneStat.com revealed that the foundation's FireFox Web browser is once again gaining usage share on market leader Internet Explorer (IE), Microsoft's monopoly-aided Web browser. According to the online analytics firm, Firefox jumped to a global usage share of 11.51 percent in October, well above the crucial 10 percent mark. IE, of course, still dominates with 85.45 percent of the market, although IE's usage has slipped 1.18 percent since April 2005. In third place, incidentally, is Apple Safari, with 1.75 percent of the market. Opera accounts for less than 1 percent of all Web traffic, according to OneStat.com
