JSI Tip 4164. You can't install the Security Update from July 19, 2000 on Windows 2000?

If you have installed the newest version of Outlook Express, you do NOT have to apply the Security Update, July 19, 2000 from the Windows Update Product Catalog.

If the update is presented and you try to install, you may receive a download and installation failed message.

It is likely that your antivirus software has prevented the registry from being updated.

To fix the problem:

1. Open Outlook Express.

2. On the Help menu, press About Microsoft Outlook Express and record the version information.

3. Use Regedt32 to navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\InstalledComponents\\{44BBA840-CC51-11CF-AAFA-00AA00B6015C\}
4. Double-click the Version value name in the right hand pane.

5. Change the string data value to match the version information from step 2.

6. Press OK.

7. Exist Regedt32 and restart your computer.
