Microsoft Merges Professional and Personal in new Work and Play Bundle

If you were considering sending me something for Christmas this year (cough, cough), you can add this to your list of thoughtful deliberations.

Microsoft has unveiled a new Work & Play Bundle that combines several of its services into a single, cost-worthy package. The packages includes a 1 year subscription to:

  • Office 365 Home – Full versions of Office applications that can be installed on all your devices. Includes 1 TB of OneDrive online storage.
  • Xbox Live Gold – In addition the Gold subscription, you'll get exclusive member discounts of up to 50-75% on games in the Xbox Store.
  • Xbox Music Pass – Stream and download music to listen on your PC, tablet, smartphone, or Xbox and get unlimited access to millions of songs.
  • Skype Unlimited World +  WiFi – Use Skype to call countries around the globe with unlimited access and get connected to over 2 million WiFi hotspots worldwide.

If purchased separately, the bundle would cost you almost $450, but the new package weighs in at just $199. Of course, with all Microsoft services, a Microsoft account is required to take advantage of the deal. If you already subscribe to any of the bundled services, that subscription will simply be extended for 1 year past your contract expiration. The bundle is available from November 10, 2014 to January 4, 2015 or while supplies last (but, it doesn't indicate what the proposed stocking level is).

The bundle can be purchased through Microsoft Retail Stores and is for US residents only.
