Announced in July and released in August, the StoreSimple 8000 series Cloud-based appliances provide the next generation for Hybrid storage and disaster recovery. StorSimple was acquired by Microsoft in 2012, and despite a lull in activity for several months, the company is actively invigorating the hardware line.
StorSimple integrates primary storage data deduplication, automated tiered storage of data, data compression, encryption, and significantly faster data backup and disaster recovery times. The 8000 series (8100 and 8600) now provide better performance through more powerful processors and optimized network connectivity, and larger on-premises storage capacity.
