McDATA Forms New Switch Product Group

McDATA, a leader in the open-storage networking industry, has formed a new Switch Product Group. The group will be responsible for strengthening the company's presence in the fabric switch market and will offer products for SAN infrastructures.

The company currently specializes in open SANs, switching products, software-management tools--including its recently acquired SANavigator--and other services. In early 2001, McDATA launched a fabric switch line of products, which now includes the 3000 Series Fabric Switches and 1000 Series Loop Switches. Those products will help make up the foundation of the Switch Product Group.

McDATA hopes that the new group will help better address the needs and requirements of customers, including many in the small to midsized enterprise sector.
