For some reason, this new Infographic reminds me of that old movie, The Blob. In fact, maybe that's what the Cloud should be renamed to since it more aptly fits. If you remember, The Blob, starring superstar Steve McQueen, was about an alien life form that consumed everything in its path as it grew larger and larger. The movie was remade in 1988 and starred Kevin Dillon, who is not quite the legend McQueen was. The original is still the best. Its still a classic and one that still captures my focus on a lazy Saturday afternoon.
Two revisions of the movies also offered two different taglines and they both seem just as appropriate for our own The Blob(The Cloud) today:
- 1958: "Indescribable…indestructible! Nothing can stop it!"
- 1988: "Scream now while you can still breathe!"
With the Worldwide Partner Conference going on this week (read about the announcements here: From WPC: Quick Announcement Notes) Microsoft is heavily invested in showing the successes of the Cloud now and in the next 5 years. To help with this, Microsoft sponsored both a report (obtained here: Successful Cloud Partners) and an Infographic. Based on IDC studies between 2012 and 2013, the findings do show that The Cloud is indestructible and that, apparently, nothing can stop it.
