Azure Container Service hits general availability with two big options

Azure Container Service offers choice of Data Center Operating System (DC/OS) or Docker Swarm and Compose

After spending some time in preview, Azure Container Service has gone gold, or at least as "gold" as anything goes in the cloud world. Microsoft announced the general availability of Azure Container Service this week along with some partnership news that gives those looking at containerized options a little more flexibility.

Timed with the announcement was the news that Microsoft joined Accenture, Cisco, HPE and others in Mesosphere’s Data Center Operating System (DC/OS) project, giving Azure Container Service users the choice of using DC/OS or Docker's Swarm and Compose to orchestrate their cloud containers.

Both open source frameworks offer a host of tools to manage and monitor applications running in the cloud, as well as help make applications easier to launch and move around as needed.
