    SCCM 2012: User-Oriented Administration

    Sponsored by: BDNA

    Jan 31, 2012

SCCM is one Microsoft’s most mature systems management tools, dating to an era when machines were managed more than users. SCCM 2012 shifts that orientation, delivering a distinctively use-oriented administration interface. This is appropriate in an era when users access their desktop environments using a variety of endpoint devices. Features such as a new Web software portal for user-initiated software delivery, per-user application control, and automated remediation based  on a user’s security posture, combine to help you better meet user operational needs.

SCCM 2012 doesn’t skimp on new administrative aids, however. New scheduling and throughput throttling capabilities give you finer-grained control on the impact of deployments and updates on the enterprise network, and SCCM 2012’s new Conditional Delivery method automatically determines whether a users is running from a desktop, mobile device, terminal server, or even a VM, in order to select the best delivery method. SCCM 2012’s console also now incorporates App-V, Med-v, Forefront 2010, and Citrix XenApp interfaces, as well as Windows Phone 7.

This paper gives you a leg up on SCCM 2012’s capabilities, letting you augment your existing administrative processes to simplify the transition to this new management paradigm.
