The modern organization is striving to break into the new digital market. This means deploying applications, workloads, databases, and resources which can support a digitized user. However, legacy is slowing this process - and introducing new levels of risk. Consider this, on April 12, 2016, Microsoft ended the life of SQL 2005. The product will still work, it just won't fix new flaws or exploits discovered. At best, platforms like Microsoft SQL Server 2005 has been relegated to simple report generation on noncritical data. But - there are some organizations who still have legacy applications, databases, and entire workloads in their ecosystem. With that in mind, there's good news and there’s bad news.
The good news is that if you're trying to migrate data alone - you may be able to do this pretty easily. Just make sure you don't store your data on the same server as the database app. The not so good news is if you have a lot of apps running on top of the database, your migration could take quite a bit longer. As the VP of Strategy and Innovation at MTM Technologies, he interacts with enterprise organizations and helps align IT strategies with direct business goals. He also publishes freelance whitepapers, articles, podcasts, and blogs around data center, cloud, security, and infrastructure management topics.
Yogesh Kaushik is Senior Director, Product Management for Cisco Tetration Analytics platform in INSBU. Yogesh first joined Cisco in 2000, at the height of dot-com boom and has been a part of the journey at Cisco since then, in multiple roles across different business functions including engineering, product management and corporate strategy. In his current role as product lead for Tetration Analytics, Yogesh is driving solutions to help customers tackle their most complex security and operational challenges in the modern data center, by using analytics and machine learning technologies.
Yogesh has diverse international experience working and studying in UK, US, France, India and South Korea. He has left Cisco twice, always to return as the company continues to reinvent itself and challenge the status quo. Prior to joining Cisco for the 3rd time in 2015, Yogesh led Corporate Strategy at Symantec, where he was responsible for driving a cohesive and integrated product portfolio and the Unified Security platform strategy. Yogesh holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in computer science and an MBA from INSEAD.
