The latest version of SharePoint has convinced many organizations to upgrade from previous versions of SharePoint and competing products. Increasing needs for efficiencies in the IT world also require organizations to carefully plan out these migrations to minimize costs, reduce overall maintenance costs, and provide real value to the user community. In this hour long presentation, Colin Spence, MCP and MCTS SharePoint, will provide an overview of business and technology challenges involved in migrating legacy SharePoint content to SharePoint 2013 both on-premises and in the cloud. A checklist of items to specifically look for will be provided and the benefits of finding the appropriate tool set called out.
This will be followed by Tamir Orbach, Director of Product Management at Metalogix, demonstrating the free Metalogix product, “Migration Expert” to automatically extract some items mentioned in Colin’s checklist, and discussing when it makes sense to use a Migration tool such as Metalogix’ Content Matrix to perform migrations to SharePoint 2013. Q&A will follow.
