Hummingbird Enhances Linux Market Reach, Allies with Powerize.com

Hummingbird Communications and SuSE announced that the Hummingbird Enterprise Information Portal (EIP) core engine will be included in SuSE’s Linux distribution. The agreement enhances Hummingbird’s presence in an expanding Linux solutions market. “We’re very pleased that Hummingbird’s strong relationship with SuSE has now expanded into the portal arena,” says Hummingbird President Barry Litwin. “The inclusion of the Hummingbird EIP core engine in the SuSE Linux distribution provides organizations with a head start to deploy enterprise information portals on the high-performance Linux platform.” In addition, an agreement with Powerize.com will help Hummingbird provide customers with customized vertical EIP solutions that will deliver advanced personalized access to business information. The alliance underscores Hummingbird’s efforts to create global alliances to deliver powerful EIP portal solutions to its vertical customer base, according to Litwin. “We share a goal of providing knowledge workers with consistent, reliable access to the most current information that can impact business decisions,” says Ed Addison, Powerize.com chairman and CEO. “We look forward to leveraging the flexibility and functionality of Hummingbird’s EIP and \[its\] strengths in certain vertical markets to expand our own vertical channels.” Powerize.com is an online research service and content aggregator.
