I've been messing around with the blog and will experiment with changing things a bit. Here's the first step in a new direction.
GOG.com ("Good Old Games") infamously announced they were shutting down last week. Well, it was a hoax, thankfully. Not a funny one, but at least they're "back." Go buy some DRM-free games. This needs to survive.
It's official: Microsoft is big. And old. And not growing like they used to.
Doom and gloom for Windows Phone? Not according to Morgan Stanley, which says Microsoft will achieve 15 percent of the smart phone market by 2012, enough for a third place finish behind Android and Apple, and in a virtual tie with RIM and Nokia. Sounds about right to me.
Dissenting opinion here. I like Christopher Dawson a lot. But having used all three of the OSes in question--Android, iOS, Windows Phone--I have to disagree. These are the big three going forward.
And the hunter becomes the hunted. I see my own news stories and articles in Google news alerts every day or so. But very occasionally I see a link to a post that's about me. Sometimes it's weird being me.
Jason Hiner says the iPad is only good for two things. That's not strictly true. It makes for a fine $600 mirror too. Seriously, you could shave with this thing. Which means that one of the two things he mentions is negated by the mirror situation, sadly.
New Roku players are out, and they're coming with Crazy Eddie pricing. I just ordered the $99 version. Local playback? Yes, yes, yes.
My Droid X was updated to Android 2.2 "Froyo" yesterday. Eh. I'm more interested in the new Gmail app update.
From email (sender wished to remain anonymous): Microsoft is now putting their Business Productivity Online Suite (BPOS) into every Enterprise Agreement whether you want it or not, at no additional cost. Just in case you thought they weren't serious about the cloud. But it does raise an interesting question: Is Microsoft trying to "pad" their BPOS adoptions with this tactic?
