Microsoft releases Roll-up Update 6 for Exchange 2010 SP1

Microsoft has just released RU6 for Exchange 2010 SP1. You can head over to the download center to grab a copy. Just like any other updates, it’s important to install and test RU6 before you introduce it into production. I believe that Microsoft has addressed the issues that caused problems in the previous RU3 and RU4 releases earlier this year but that’s no reason to rush code into production.

RU6 makes some changes to the role definitions used by Exchange's Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) security model that can result to error messages being flagged by the Exchange Management Shell (EMS) or Exchange Control Panel (ECP) when users who are members of the Organization Management role group run the Get-ManagementRoleAssignment or Get-ManagementRole cmdlets. The problem goes away when RU6 is deployed to all servers within the organization. More information is available in KB2638351.
